Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs), first developed in the late 1960s, remain largely unknown to the public. Fewer still realize that what was once classified as high-level nuclear waste—spent nuclear fuel—can serve as a fuel source for next-generation reactors. Even among environmentalists, there is limited awareness that these advanced reactors can enable economically viable plasma gasification, converting municipal solid waste into ultra-clean transportation fuels and high-performance construction aggregates. The commercialization of MSRs is not just a technological advancement—it is a critical step toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy and environmental future.
Innovating Nuclear Technology for Tomorrow
Egeneration Foundation champions advanced nuclear technologies, focusing on molten salt fast reactors that utilize spent fuel and produce clean energy, medical isotopes, and sustainable fuels from waste and coal.
Empowering Sustainable Energy Solutions
Advancing Nuclear Innovation Together
We advocate for policies supporting nuclear advancements in Ohio, promoting legislation that fosters innovation and sustainability in energy production while addressing waste management and environmental concerns.
Oklo, a nuclear power startup that is supported by Sam Altman, is looking to build an advanced reactor in Piketon County, OH.
Plasma gasification is a well-established and proven technology. However, its broader adoption has historically been limited by the process's high energy costs and requirements. Co-locating plasma gasification facilities with advanced nuclear power unlocks economic viability by providing abundant, low-cost, carbon-free energy, enabling the efficient conversion of syngas into ultra-clean transportation fuels. The byproduct is a high-strength, high-performance vitrified aggregate that can be used in road construction and in concrete.

Policy Advocacy
Championing legislation and policies to promote the development of new nuclear technologies in Ohio.
Plasma Gasification of municipal solid waste (MSW) offers a pathway to producing carbon-neutral ethanol. Corn-based ethanol is not carbon-neutral. Federal ethanol mandates have incentivized the conversion of significant portions of Ohio’s farmland from food production to fuel crop cultivation, in turn raising food costs. This shift is most likely an important contributing factor to harmful algal blooms affecting Ohio’s lakes and waterways. Plasma Gasification can also consume livestock waste and manure and transform it into ethanol, methanol, butanol, and ultra-clean Gasoline and Diesel fuel.
What We Stand For

Future Generations
“Ohio should never be at the mercy of out-of-state energy markets or imported fossil fuels.”
“Not all renewables are created equal. Nuclear is dispatchable, scalable, and environmentally clean.”
“We're building for economics and reliability - not for the next news cycle or special interest groups.”
Building new oil refineries in the United States is challenging due to their high cost, complex permitting, and environmental opposition. Traditional refineries convert crude oil into fuel through fractional distillation, but the U.S. lacks sufficient refining capacity, making fuel prices vulnerable to disruptions from maintenance, accidents, or natural disasters. Plasma gasification—especially when powered by advanced nuclear energy—offers a cleaner, decentralized alternative. It can convert municipal solid waste, waste coal, and coal ash into ultra-clean gasoline and diesel, strengthening Ohio's and America’s energy security while reducing environmental impact.
